POST MISSION RESULTS/INTELLIGENCE DEBRIEF

Mission Results for week of 4/27/20 thru 5/03/2020:
Member Name/callsign: E69_Haukka
Actual Mission Name: Spitfire attack on Argentan base
Date single mission actually flown: 4/28/20
Results/description of mission: We have razed the base of Argentan. Eight planes on fire, including a transport. A destroyed truck. Two Bf.109 fighters shot down at the attack site.
Mission Score: 385
Misc. Info if desired:

The same base last week, a similar front, made me think I was in a campaign. I took off turning south and then towards a course of about 120, but never following exactly the waipoints, as there was a lot of flak on the way. I made my trip by zigzagging towards Argentan.
When I was west of my target, I started a smooth, quick dive to enter the Argentan base from the north. I instructed my boys to start the attack, but several had stayed on the road, entertained by other targets, disobeying my orders. I entered Argentan with only two of my pilots.

I attacked a machine gun nest, and the gunners ran away, but soon returned and fired again. Meanwhile, I dropped all the bombs I had loaded (1x500lb. And 2x250lb,). I decided this upon seeing the debrief of a pilot who had been there this morning (Lt. Larsresult), and had informed us that it was a good idea to be well loaded.
With the bombs I destroyed a bomber, and here I admit that I did not make good use of it, as I released them all together, instead of using them more selectively. I also wanted to get rid of the extra weight soon, so that was fine.
Then I set about destroying parked planes with cannon fire. With each pass over the dispersals, an enemy plane caught fire. On two occasions Bf.109 fighters appeared, but I shot them down without much work, they were rookies.
When it seemed to me that I had already spent too much time there, I ordered my mates to rejoin and return to base.
On the way, one of my pilots was hit in the engine by the anti-aircraft artillery, and he had to make an emergency landing, but I still don't know if he managed to cross the border.
To the east of Caen, flying over the front line, we were greeted by a strong flak. We accelerate down and away from there towards the base. I land and taxi to the dispersal.
A very entertaining mission. Thank you!

Good job, guys!  Kudos to all!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

You cannot lie, cheat or steal your way to honor.  Honor lies in friendship, trust and loyalty, in truth  when you spit upon those great and wonderful things, you are doomed to a failure of the soul of the worst sort.  You are truly damned.

Looks like a good challenge to beat these scores.

And I was doing so well...I aligned my bomb run as the Bf-109s below were taking off. As I was about to release my bombs I took a flak hit in the engine. There was an explosion and flames, which distracted me enough that I did not release bombs. My engine had stopped and my canopy screen was covered with oil. I veered off to the east, dropped my bombs in a field, and tried to restart my engine (by this time the fire was out). No luck. I bailed out. It is time to consider making the pilot in parachute picture my site icon. The guys back at the base are going to nickname me "Chute" or "Silk" or something like that.

Unlucky Von. Hope your squadron took revenge.

Right you are Lars. I am definitely due for a change of fortune. And the most important part was that I had a blast doing it. For those of you out there reading this who have not tried these missions, let me assure you this is a lot of fun no matter the outcome.
